Sadly, no international travel for yet another summer due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite being double-jabbed, we are still cautious of long-haul flights and possible spikes at our usual summer destinations. Due to the raging Delta variant, there is additional uncertainty as to what return travel and return to work will look like in mid-August.
With that said, we are trying to get out and about as safely as we possibly can here in the region. Last year, we explored the east of the UAE with trips to the tip of Sharjah and Fujairah. Recently, H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated Al Subub Rest Area, the latest tourism project in Khor Fakkan, located 600 metres above sea level. This UFO-like building has commanding views of the Gulf of Oman and the beautifully rugged Khorfakkan Mountains.
Should you find yourself in the region, this is well worth the cost of admission!
