I have my father to thank for my lifelong interest in photography. Thank you, dad!
As I get older, it is time that seems to be the main challenge when it comes to my photography interests outside of portraiture. Sure, I always have my iPhone on hand, and for a lot of shots, it is my best tool. What is it they say about the best camera…? But, for those long exposure night shots, the iPhone (currently) is just not there. Add into the mix being the father of 3 and a busy full-time university professor, well planning becomes an issue too.
When the time allows and the weather permits (thanks, PhotoPills for letting me get a sense as to the timing of sunset, the blue hour and beyond), and I have my Sony A7R camera mounted with a trusty lens, well, the results can be pretty stunning. From time to time, my images get picked up by Flickr for their Explore feature, and this often results in a significant bump in my social media stats. This image alone is about to crest 12K views in just under a month. So, thanks, Flickr!
